这里是西藏自治区，是中国五个民族自治区之一，位于西南部的青藏高原上， 平均海拔4000米以上，有“世界屋脊”之称。这是世界第一高峰——珠穆朗玛峰，海拔8844.43米。

This is Tibet Autonomous Region, one of the five autonomous regions in China. It is located in Qingzang Plateau in southwest of China. Having an average elevation of more than 4000 m, it earns the name of "the roof of the world". This is the highest peak in the world, Mount Everest, which is 8848.43 m above sea level.

　　西藏自治区是中国人口最少的省区。藏族是这里的主要居民。藏族人信仰藏传佛教，热情开朗、能歌善舞。无论男女都喜欢穿长袍，跳舞时舞动长袖，边唱边舞。藏族的节庆活动很多，几乎每个月都有一个节日。这是藏族人在欢度藏族最隆重的传统佳节——藏历新年。

Tibet is the least populated region in China. Tibetans are the major residents here. Tibetans believe in Tibetan Buddhism. They are very passionate and enthusiastic people, good at dancing and singing. Both man and woman like wearing robes. They wave their long sleeves while dancing and singing. Tibetans have many festivals to celebrate, almost one in every month. This is how Tibetan people are celebrating their grandest festival, the Tibetan New Year.

　　这是西藏自治区的首府拉萨。拉萨是全区的政治、经济、文化和交通中心，是一座有着1300多年历史的文化名城。

This is Lhasa, the capital city of Tibet Autonomous Region. It is the political, economical, cultural and traffic center of the region. It is a famous cultural city with a history of more than 1300 years.

　　大昭寺、小昭寺、布达拉宫是拉萨的主要旅游区。这是西藏的标志性建筑布达拉宫，1995年被列入《世界文化遗产名录》。

The Johkang Monastery, the Ramogia Monastery and the Potala Palace are the major tourist attractions of Lhasa. This is the Potala Palace, the landmark architectural complex of Lhasa. It was inscribed on the World Cultural Heritage List in 1995.
