Journal of Language Planningis an important journal on
the subject of language planning, presenting research findings in the fields of
language policy and language planning theory, language standardization, international
organizations and country-specific language policy, world language education,

Professor
Li Yuming is the dean of the Beijing Advanced Innovation Center for
Language Resources and Intelligence (BLCU) and a doctoral supervisor. Mr. Li is
a former president of the Chinese Linguistics Society (2016-2017), president of
the Language Policy and Planning Board, vice president of the International
Association of Chinese Linguistics, and the chief editor of Chinese Journal of
Language Policy and Planning. Other
positions Mr. Li once held include the deputy director of the State Language
Commission, head of the Department of Language Information Administration of
the Ministry of Education, and director of the Institute of Applied Linguistics
of the Ministry of Education.
Mr.
Li has won many important awards and titles, including a special government
allowance from the State Council, a national Labor Day medal, and a “2013
Distinguished Chinese Visiting Scholar” title from The Hong Kong Polytechnic
University.
Li’s major research
interests focus on theoretical linguistics, syntax, psychological linguistics,
and language planning. He has published more than 10 books, includingDevelopment of Child Language,On the Quantity Category in Chinese,A Catalogue of Grammar Studies,
andLanguage Planning in China,
as well as over 480 academic papers. He is also the chief editor ofA Global Chinese Dictionaryand a co-editor ofThe Language Situation in China(Vol. 1-3), published by The
Commercial Press in association with De Gruyter of Germany. His works have been
translated into Mongolian, Tibetan, Uyghur, Japanese, Korean, Russian, French,
English, and other languages.
