It is a newspaper reading course book for foreign Chinese learners of above elementary level, proved to be effective teaching material to improve students’news reading ability. It includes two volumes, each for one semester. Articles in the 1st volume cover the topics in contemporary Chinese society. It offers deep exploration of the topic, introduces the pragmatic and discourse features of the newspaper articles. The latest language material, typical topics, mediate amount of exercises are offered, suitable for flexible use in the classroom. The texts are up-to-date; topics can be extended alongside the society development, which leaves the space for the teachers’ creativity in organizing the class.
