Introduction to Chinese Characters is an elective course book which introduces Chinese characters for non-native novice learners of Chinese. It introduces the basic concepts of Chinese characters using the language that students can understand, focuses on the relationship between Chinese characters and Chinese language with both Chinese and English translation provided. After studying this book, students can learn the fundamentals of Chinese characters and analyze Chinese characters, thus laying a solid foundation for the learning of Chinese characters in the future. 

Ma Yanhua, Professor and PhD Supervisor of Beijing Normal University, is the Director of the Phonetic Teaching and Research Lab, and is a reviewer of National Social Science Fund of China and an expert in  accreditation of academic and vocational qualifications evaluation industry/discipline.

It is an elective course book which introduces Chinese characters for non-native novice learners of Chinese. 

It is suggested two class hours be devoted to each of the 14 lessons. A test is provided after Lesson 7.
