Taking the big context of world literature into consideration, this book reviews the 50-year history of contemporary Chinese literature and explores its spiritual development to help learners get to know the big events, famous writers and works in contemporary Chinese literary world and meanwhile understand the literary trends in and outside China.
The author of the book is Professor Zheng Wanpeng, who was born in December 1940 in Fuyu, Jilin Province. During the period between 1960 and 1975, he was studying and then teaching in the Chinese department of Northeast Normal University. Since the year 1975, he has been teaching in Beijing Language and Culture University. His major works include the abridged translation of Snow Country, Appreciation of Foreign Literary Masterworks, A Historical Review of the 19th Century Western Literature and A Study on the Novel White Deer Plain, etc.
